TUNE IN &
TAKE NOTE
A series of ten classes where we combine mindfulness, art, and music to assist in
creating clearer and more thoughtful tools for communication within our families
and communities.
Each session will consist of the following.
-
Collectively we choose one emotion from the “Emotions Wheel”
-
We discuss its definition and personal relation/experience with the
emotion. -
Each person chooses a song that reflects the chosen emotion.
-
Individually, we listen to our songs, create art and journal in our
sketchbooks about the chosen emotion. -
We transition into a mindfulness session and guided meditation that assists
in a gentle connection to the chosen emotion using active listening and
trauma-informed communication. -
Closing discussion – how can we better communicate the chosen
emotion with family and community?
BENEFITS
Art, music, and mindfulness have all been scientifically proven to offer significant
benefits to underserved communities by providing tools to manage chronic
stress, improve emotional regulation, cope with trauma, and promote overall
well-being. Combining these three tools will assist in fostering a deeper
knowledge of the self, once we understand ourselves better we then have more
room to consider each other with that same knowledge.
